hi folks help needed on mk2 punto 2001 recently replaced engine block and head. used all of the original electrics ie loom, ecu, coils, leads and sensors from original engine. now when i try to stary i get all ignition lights fine but engine will not turn over and the code light is staying on permantly. have read majority of the forum with no sucess so any suggestions would b greatfully appreciated. hoping to solve myself but if not any suggestions for a fiat garage in the glasgow area would b of help thanks guys

Even if the CODE immobiliser is armed, I am pretty sure the engine will still turn over (just with no fuel being sent by the ECU). Therefore, you may have two problems here that are unconnected. Immobilisers I have know little about but starter motors, do you hear the click of the solenoid engaging or nothing at all?

i dont have anything at all happening. tho it might be earth points so cleaned all of these, stilol no luck. was told to try putting a wire from the live straight thro to the starter to see if that will turn it over so gonna try that next and change the battery incase that is at fault. only got it from halfords a few months ago so gonna take it back under guarantee. will let you know how i get on with startig nafter that

If the battery has been allowed to go too flat it might not take a charge. A conditioning charger (Optimate type) should recover it but will need to be on for a few days.
