The coolant temperature is normal (new thermostat a couple of months ago) and there are no nasty gurgles or coolant level issues. I've bled the heater hoses.

But the heater is really not very good. In fact, unless the fan is flat out and the heater dial set to 100% hot its only just about adequate.

The coolant is new. The old stuff was replaced when the cam belt snapped and topped up when I had the thermostat done.

I've also checked the cabin air intake filter sheet. There isn't one :(

Any ideas?

Oh yes, its a 2001 HGT

My heater isn't roasting hot either. I've bled the system correctly several times too. (not as hot as my Saxo)

But, i guess this is a common issue with fiat? It dosn't get terribly cold in Milan :S... So why make even a heater?

Its often colder in Turin (where Fiats are based) than mush of the UK. Cold blasts sweep down the Aosta valley. Last week it was down to -11 and a foot of snow.

Any ideas about the heater not doing proper heating things?

↲May sound stupid. But as it is freezing outside and its only 3mm thick single glass. Do you think the cold is sitting on the glass and absorbing the heat?

The heater works and the the engine is happy, but on every other car I've owned it blows too hot on full fan and temperature. On full blast, this one is only just about adequate.

If I was driving in -10C (though, I haven't - yet), it would probably struggle to demist the windscreen.
