This is really Clutch continued.

I have just split box from the engine only to find the bell housing contaminated with oil.

Can anyone tell me what is involved with replacing the input shaft oil seal.

Does the bell housing simply un bolt to reveal the seal or does unbolting the housing expose all the gears and shafts?
Thanks in advance.

JK

Check -- by smell/taste -- that it is gearbox oil. If not, suspect the crank oil seal.

Washoff the inside of the bellhousing and you should see the oil seal. AFAIK, it's not necessary to remove the bellhousing to remove the seal. Usually you gan get them out with a self tapping screw or 3.

Can someone confirm?

what does AFAIK mean?

I can see were the shaft fiys through from the gear box I cant

AFAIK = As Far As I Know.

The rest I don't understand.

If you want to pop off the bellhousing, no problem, but stand the box on the other -- outer -- end so everything doesn't fall out.

Does the oil smell like gearbox oil or engine oil?

smells like gear oil.

Will removing the bell housing expose all the shafts?
Will it go back together easily ?
i good take it to a transmission specialist?

Thanks

You could. But it's just a simple seal. Somewhere on the Cinq/Sei section is a series of pics of a box being pulled apart. I can't find anything useful in the factory Cinq or Sei manual.

As I say, stand it on the right end and everything should stay in place.

fingers,i checked and cant find anything in the cinq/sei section, any chance you could have a gander and link here m8,i got oil seal to do myself :bang:

well i think it is
