Hi i have a 51 reg punto 1.2 petrol , its running fine , but now and again ,when going over a bump my handbrake light come on for a few seconds then goes off ,probley a loose wire but that i can live with for now , Yesterday when i stopped and took the key out ,the engine control system and oil light come on and stayed on , i started the car up and they went out , so while iam driving they dont come , but when i take the key out they come on and stay on ,has anyone any ideas as to what is wrong with ?
ps , checked the oil and its fine

may be worth checking your brake fluid levels (make sure lid is on securly and tight)

Cheers , yeah the handbrake light does come on round tight corners now youve mentioned it , ill try that , Its the second one that got me confussed tho , iam i right in thinking if it was a EOBD sytem fault then it would come on when driving , because that not happening ,only come on when i turned the car off

Could it be a badly wired stereo Fiats are not the same wiring as most cars. Sparkies might know

The handbrake switch contacts when the brake is on so it could be a faulty switch. It could also be a brake pad wear indicator or low brake fluid.

Check it before driving or your brakes might not do braking things.

Handbrake light fault (coming on when cornering/braking hard) is due to low fluid.

Random dash lights coming on after switching-off is a minor Body Computer glitch. Make sure you have the radio code handy, then disconnect the battery earth for 5 mins, then refit to reset the Body Computer.

i had same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the hand brake light flashes on and off when it has low brake fluid ya just need to top it up or get it changed!!! hope this helps xx
