under my daughters Punto!
can someone describe how to remove the nut for holding on the steering wheel on a MKII Punto?
ive had a look at it and it has some sort of outer sleave/clip round the nut, does this just pull off or has it got to be snipped off and a new clip fitted.

thank's

Heya, if it's the same nut I removed a few days ago then what I used was an appropriately sized ratchet tool (DO'NT USE A SPANNER this could damage your nut if your tool slips off! ). Place on the nut, apply pressure in an anti-clock wise IIRC and either jam the s.wheel in between your legs whilst you are doing it or an easier option...get a mate to hold it firm for you :p. When you put it back just apply a tiny bit of grease to it so it does not seize in place once tightened. May not be the 100% correct way but it worked for me and there are no issues. Do'nt forget also that there are 4 bolts you need to extract from the back of the wheel too. (y)

If the wheel is tight on the column, don't try and pull the wheel off without refitting the nut first, otherwise you could end up with a faceful of wheel.
