My 2004 1.2 Automatic with 16000 miles has started to show gearbox failure on the display. The car puts itself into neutral and after a while it will let you restart and go for a few miles before the problem repeats itself. The car has never given any problems before. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to this fix. Desperate for help as I need the car tomorrow.

Re my earlier post - the problem seems to have gone away. When I started and drove the car for about a 40 mile round trip everything functioned perfectly. Perhaps it was just one of those odd things that can happen. Perhaps some kind of electrical short that sorted itself out. Anyway it all seems okay now.
