hi, im new to the forum so hi punto experts!
erm i have a 2000 punto 16v 1.2 and i am through the process of changing the headgasket.
Im having problems finding out the headgasket bolt removal sequence and the torque settings.
any info?
another thing is, how do i remove the rocker cover? it looks built in to me but am i wrong?

cylinder head torques

stage 1 20Nm
stage 2 30Nm
stage 3 90 degrees
stage 4 90 degrees

Undo in opposite orded to tightening by 1/2 turn in sequence
twice once you have cracked the seal you can remove the
bolts in any order after that.

Normall the head would be skimmed before reassembly
as long as it's not been taken to the limit before hand.
tighten in sequence to the settings previously posted.

Here is a sequence diagram

The head gasket has to be fitted so the oil supply hole is not covered. My gasket had a metal edge around that hole.

The bolts stretch one heck of a lot so you really should use new head bolts. If one snaps there will be big trouble. Also make sure there is no oil or water filling up the bolt holes. Clean them out properly and oil the new bolt threads.

The instructions will be given on the pack. IIRC mine were like this...

tighten to 15ftlbs
Tighten to 30ftlbs
looson by 90 degs
tighten to 30ftlbs
three stages of 90 degrees

All done in sequence and the loosen done in reverse sequence.

It also seriously affects the torque figures. Threads should be oiled, but bolt holes should not be full of oil or water/coolant.
