Hi - this is my first post here, but have read this forum many times for help with my Punto.

I have a problem that has been ongoing for ages. I have a '52 plate punto MkII and at night time when driving i find the headlights extremely dim when driving in the dark. (n)

Does anyone else have this problem? and does anyone have any solutions / tweaks to help make the headlights brighter and make my driving a lot safer this winter.

Many thanks in advance.

i have same year punto as you and i have this problem aswell

i tend to use the fog lights if im on country roads or somewhere away from lots of traffic

Wish i had fog lights - they're not on my model :(

stupid crappy lights:( on country roads its a death! i tried using the manual adjusters, ive even lifted the whole headlight unit up and now ders a big gap underneath and i bought xenon lights off ebay. it made the slightest difference but its still like driving with sidelights! will osram nightbreakers ACTUALLY make a difference?

I'd definitely say you have a supply/earth problem there mate. I have an HID conversion but even before I fitted it my lights where quite good I thought.

If you have the gear and a bit of patience mate you should be able to check it all out yourself. It may be a good idea to temporally attach a decent sized wire to your battery's negative side and carefully attach it to what should be the earth return on each side headlight to see if that makes a difference. Like one of the other guys on here, i'm betting it will :)

If you live anywhere near Hull I can help if you like?

Halfords 'Brilliance' bulbs are pretty good in the gold packaging -- sometimes they do special offers.

I never have a problem with range on just cheapo el cheap bulbs myself, you probably just need to recalibrate the height of your beam the manual adjusters are built into the headlight at the back, just use a philips screwdriver to tweak them.

Just read the two comments above, the one directly above sounds like the best course of action.

The headlamp earth is easy to check out. Get that done or bypassed and see how the lights are then.

BTW, the beam adjusters are on the back of the light units.
