hey ive just got my mk2 1.2 8v punto and was looking to put an air filter/ induction kit on it. I know next to nothing, only being 17 so im just looking for advice really!
advantages of a full induction kit vs a £30 air filter from halfords or something,
best makes to go for etc.
mainly i just want my car to sound better because i dont think air filters do much for power? but i dont want to mess up my engine by getting dust etc in there or lose power by intaking hot air!
i may be being really blonde but any help would be really appreciated :D

air filters dont really make your car sound better, unless you stick your foot right down, and its very rare you will get a chance becasue you will be up someones backside! it may give off like a hissing noise, it will make it run better and help it to breath alot better. If your after a nice sound maybe drill a hole in exhaust but this will fail mot.

well thats how i drive most of the time atm! lol
but if you were to recommend one...?
and that exhaust tip sounds like a plan til i can afford a new pipe! :D

cheers man! think its a DIY job?

yes very very simple, but their is a few things you need to look out for

i.e. No screws/bolts or dirt etc fall into the throttle body while you are "swapping" filters over

also let your insurance company know

if you decide not to and you have a crash they may not pay out and say your insurance is not valid

i had the focus induction kit and i took it out and sold it, it makes your car sound like a tank when revs are low and petrol seems to just dissapear

hey guys, just to update. got that air filter linked above and works perfectly! cheers :)

Whos going to want to buy a car with a drilled airbox off you lol. At least with the £30 induction you can return it back to standard easily enough without pissing about at a scrappy.

It were actually a joke lol! but how much is an airbox from scrappy gonna be though? If you wanted to return it to standard, it'd still cost less than what a 'performance' air filter would cost! ...I think!
