well tbh i would pay the £200 excess but the ipod and sat nav WENT TO DIDNT THEY;) haha also you had a cd collection didnt you? might aswell everyone else does it

well i have tried un-locking my car from the passenger side and all the key is doing is spinning around and doesnt stop

would someone be still able to get in from this side?

If the locks knackered anyway try a screwdriver, gets in further than the key. Its most likely how they got in! See if you can open it with that. If not can't you just disengage the lock from behind the door panel? Can't have anything safe, it's disgusting!

You can get hardened metal plates that are glued to the inside of the door around the locks. These stop someone drilling the door panel to trigger the lock with the piece of wire and they stop the lock from spinning in the panel if its forced. It wont protect the lock itself. Beau's idea of delocking the doors with these armour plates makes the most sense. Keep the boot lid lock in case of emergencies. BTW Delocked doors are costly as you have to metal plate the holes, fill smooth and repaint the doors. You can do it more cheaply and improve the security with the armour plates and some chrome or painted covers for the lock holes.

thanks guys...can they still get in through the damaged lock if anyone was to try? my car is being assessed on tuesday and talking the best options will it be ok just left alone? i mean an anybody else get it through that side now it is "broke / damaged"

yes they can.

best bet as said above until then just put some of those lock surround things on to cover the hole.

Take the locks out and glue in some 3mm steel (or better stainless) over the inside of the door panel. Bin the locks so dont bother with holes for the locks. The plates must cover the lock area 150mm x 150mm or more. They need to cover vulnerable areas so the door isn't easily drilled. The best glue will be an industrial quality double sided tape. Or a 2 pack flexible for metal to metal joins. The scruffy lock holes can be covered by the steel plates. Use any suitable caps painted or chromed to tidy up the finish. Use the radio "plip" on the key to unlock the car.
