Hi all,

new to the forum, but have been reading for a while. brilliant posts and thanks you to all the contributors, i have used much of the information already

I have a 2001 Punto JTD. great car,and brilliant to drive. in March, the timing belt went while driving, so i had to spend £600 to get it fixed. the mechanic was a joke, and it took 4 months to get back. A week after driving it around, the turbo went. I got the same mechanic to fit a 2nd hand turbo, and once done i have put another 5k miles onto it in a couple of months

this week, i was driving back from Belfast and I realised I had lost power. it looks like the turbo is just not doing any work. i can hear it spinning up, and when i rev the car with the hood up, i can hear the turbo slow down when i let off.

I read the other threads on power loss and as a result i have changed the oil, air filter, oil filter and fuel filter. it now runs great at low revs, i.e around town, but as soon as you reach turbo revs, it is a dead wood

I read a post that said it might be a hose hanging off, so i had a nose around, and i found a black square box hanging loose, with a pipe hanging off. i do not think it is related but was hoping someone might be able to look at the picture and tell what it is, and if it should be secured.

any help would be great!

OK< is it possible for the EGR to be installed upside down? When i got the Punto back from the mechanic after having the Head done, i noticed a missing screw on the engine cover. I just took it off, and noticed that it looks different to the picture in the "guides" section of this forum where it tells you where everything is.

I have a picture but i am trying to get it off of my phone as i type, so i will upload it when i get it off.

any thoughts?

so i now have an upside down EGR and i have the black box with a pipe hanging off of it and not fixed to the car... i hope someone can help

cheers
dan

this was caused by the turbo seals going, and oil being fired into the turbo.... nasty... anyway, i replaced the turbo andnow it is all fixed wahoooooo

maybe i should write a turbo replacement guide for newbies
