Re: Ecus?

Hi Ash. What Punto have you got first of all mate? Year, engine, number of valves, man or auto?

There's lots of good info on here mate so i'm sure there will be someone who can say better than me whats wrong but...

I'd say the garage is maybe talking ******** IMHO, I believe (depending on year etc) there was a mod which Fiat themselves did to do with a loom that was connected to the gear box speed sensor. In any event, maybe a good idea to check out the wiring connection on the sensor itself.

That said...(chime in please guys if i'm wrong) if yours has ABS brakes, one of the sensors on a road wheel/CV joint does the speed signals (I believe).

Either way, bit more info please Ash and you'll be fine with help from here

Edit...just read at the bottom what car it is or maybe an edit there lol.

Re: Ecus?

It'll be from a sensor, ECU nothing to do with it, probably after ripping you off...

Re: Ecus?

Lol yeah it was an edit,
Hopfully it will be a sensor, but if it is would that still mess up the automatic transmission? beacause as i can tell the gears are goin 1st 2ed then by the sounds of it into 5th, and thats the lot.. And it wount change from there i take it thats limp-home mode?
I dont really want to fork out a bunch of cash for somthing that can be fixd easy..

Ash

Re: Ecus?

The gearbag ECU needs the info from the speed sensor to know when to change up. The ECU is confused not broken.

Cheers
