Hi All

I have not long bought a 54 plate Punto & have experienced a loud creaking noise towards the back of the car. Its mainly on the passenger side but becomes louder when there is weight in the back of the car. Any ideas???

When you drive, or when car is parked? Is it constant or just going over bumps?

Not to steal the thread but I also have the same problem, but only whilst braking

So do i on passenger side when going over bumpy roads i hear a squeking from the back passenger side.

Im guessing that its the rear suspension shock absorbers, but not sure.

Assuming a visual check by a suitably qualified person shows no safety related problems or wear the following is true in my experience.
The rubber bushes are very prone to this, especially in dry weather. Drenching them in WD40 or similar sometimes helps.

Do punto's have anti roll bars? If so that would be my guess as to what the noise is, either that or a worn top mount on the shocks.

As far as know creaking in the rear shocks is very common in the puntos.

I have this aswell, i think its the rear shocks, drivers side. Its bloody annoying though!

It's most probably the suspension. If you lie under the car by the front of rear wheel and get someone to bounce the rear of the vehicle you will see the suspension (not the shockers) working. The joint needs some spray grease from Halfords on it and it will shut up.:slayer:
