Just saying Hi.

As the title says, I've got a metallic Grey 51plate (2002 registered) punto with 135,000miles on it.
It's a Basic 1.2 what ever. It's still suprisingly nippy, 1-30 is fast as my last car. So it's all good, can't break 90 unless going downhill, got 105 going down hill on a motorway. Ha

Basicly wondering what I can expect to go wrong with it?
It's just my driver for when it's seriously wet, (I'm a biker)

It had it's timing belt replaced 15k miles ago.
A new Cat 5k miles ago and entire exhaust system

I keep ontop of checking radiator, oil levels, everything like that.

It cost me 1000 of the queens finest pounds. A few battle scars, nothing serious though. Perfect condition inside. Sound about right? (Years tax, MOT and warrenty)

With the year's warranty, that sounds like a good deal. Of course, that warranty will not cover wear-and-tear items, but these can wear out on any car.

If it is the 8v engine rather than 16v, then it will be very little trouble (I have a 1.1 8v with the same mileage). The 8v engines have the advantage of being non-interference, so a broken cambelt does not mean a written-off engine. I suppose that may one of the reasons you see lots of first generation Punto 55s and 60s on the road relative to other cars the same age.

Had it proffesionally checked out, so yes, said everything was good. Everythings good (sister is service manager in a large garage, much help :D) . The only small problem is a slight squeek from the fan belt. I think it's a 8v, yes.

It also has paint protection that they use on more expensive cars, the ACF-50 to prevent corrosion and what not. Keeping the crud off, i think it also increased the price.

Problem with the area I live, it's a very affluent area, so look for cheap cars in around a 30 mile radius and you often won't be able to find much. It's often you see about a 10-20% mark up on cars. (York BMW has a 20% mark up on that of manchester) which is a trend of all cars dealers/sellings in this area (Went for a main dealer rather then private). It has new 4 new tires also.

It was also a matter of ease, of buying I don't have the time or the inclination to spend ages on a car for a grand. Anyway, if I overpayed, the car's nearly as much as I paid for Panniers and rack for my Bike. But, your the expert, ofcourse. ;)

If the price is all i've done wrong, in your opinion. I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks for the inputs.
