I might be old, but I'm also doing a degree so know exactly how fussy they are.

As for diesels, I love the way they pull, but these days the cost isnt justified by the fuel savings and diesels are so quick the insurance is steep.

As for diesel sounds - listen to an Alfa 156 2.4 on full song and tell me its not cool. But to be fair they do sound like a bag of spanners on tickover.

If you want really expensive insurance and diesel sound go for a Punto HGT with a knacked variator.
