I have a mk1 punto (pushes down for reverse gear) and want to change the gaiter and gear knob.

I have read through several posts on here but some say you just pull it, some say it needs cutting. Which is the best plan of action?

Do I need a special gear knob or is that just for the lift up gears on mk2?

thanks

On the mk2, the knob just pulls off- dont need to twist it or anything. Probably the same on the mk1.

If you push down to get reverse, it usually means the whole gearstick moves, not just the gearknob so a normal gearknob would most likely be needed.

some times you have to cut the knobs off, but if you are strong though an pull very hard it will come off but watch head on inside of roof ;)

This cuttings of knobs sounds a bit sore, but anyhoo I'm considering buying the gear knob in the pic below, anyone have any idea if there are any cables or anything for the lights? Any more info would be appreciated.

I belive there's a cable from the gearknob that you need to hook up to a 12v supply, to run the led's.. shouldnt be too hard to hook up - just hiding the wire :p
I'm not certain as I've never seen nor used one but they need a supply from somwhere :)

the twist off top reveals 4 small batteries a bit bigger then the ones you put in your watch
