hi all. wright i hav two small problems and not quite sure as to wot to change next.
u can start the car (mk2 punto 1.2 8v) it starts perfect catches first time. it has a fully rebuilt engine and we hav been running it in it has 165 miles on it so far.u can giv it some poke not much as running in an shes perfect pulls swell but she idles really rough and gets a bit hot and idling gets worse. u can rev her up with the pedal and take ya foot off the pedal and she will hold there for a sec or two before she comes back down again. it has new plugs and leads and both coils work fine so i belive it may b the idle stepper motor (icv) do the symptons match ?

i had the twittering noise turned out to be the heater turned it off and noise had gone not sure whats wrong with it.

If the revs take a while to go back down then it might be the throttle body try cleaning it or replacing it.

If its nearly cutting out idle then change your tick over from the screw near the throttle body, not enough air is going through to make it rough and then the valve is taking a while to close when you rev it because it will be covered in grease or need replacing.

Ideally replace throttle body and fiddle with tick over.

its not tht im worried she will stall or cut out its just lumpy i just replaced so much on her and read tht it may be the stepper motor. As for the twittering noise i believe me heater is turned off but thnax for your help m8

right i took throttle body and cleaned it today it isnt any better if anything shes worse it revs itself now and wont come down the revs for agesu can hold the throttle open a tiny bit and she just revs higher and higher then suddenly bogs out and u hav to open throttle more checked the plugs they r perfect
