Whenever i turn my heating on it makes a horrible smell like antifreeze and i have no idea what is causing this, but i think it could be the heater matrix!

Any other ideas on what it could be?

If it was the heater matrix how much would it be to replace and how easy is it to replace?

Sounds a lot like a leaky heater matrix. It's quite labor intensive to replace because you have to take the dash out, possibly 3 hours. There are other threads on this, did you search?

yeah i did a search and read through a few and none i saw where the same problem so i thought i would make a new one

There was one recently where someone had an airlock in their system that was causing the smell. They flushed their coolant and refilled/bled it and it fixed it. Have you checked your coolant level or have a problem with overheating?

no problems with overheating and my coolant level is fine (in between min and max)

The matrix for my car (HGT) was £55 and its being replaced on Friday so I should have a good idea of labour/time cost then.

I wanted to bleed my radiator and refill but couldn't find the thread on here explaining what to do so I thought b*llocks to it and just bought a new one.
