ive recently had my sump tank replaced due to a hole. and now my car is over heating when i drive it roughly 10 miles or so. checked my water and that is fine, the oil is ok. when it overheats, i pull over and check the engine and the weird thing is the engine isnt even hot. theres no hot air coming through my vents at all. no leaks, no steam. i topped the oil up today but it didnt show on the dipstick so bit confused as to why that is.
has ne1 got ne ideas as to what it could be? i got a feeling it could be the sensor to the temperature gauge cos its going over the mid heat mark but the engine isnt hot. or it could be a clog in the pipes, or the thermostat could be jammed which is holding the valve which releases the heat into the cabin closed which is causing the hot air to build up pressure through the pipes. has nebody had this problem or similar problems?
would appretiate ne help u can give me :)
thanks

Stuck thermostat won't stop the heater working but an airlock will, try to bleed the coolant system the symptoms are similar to my car they can be a b**ger to bleed, see various posts on Forum. I've also just replaced my sump pan but not had any problems with the oil (once I'd unblocked the oil pickup pipe!) How much oil did you put in? If it is not leaking it must be in the sump & will show on the dipstick if enough is in there!

ive fond the oil, its showin on the dpstick now. figured out that my car stops overheating when hot air comes out the vents so much be somethin to do with the heating system. wen i drive my car its ok, then starts to overheat but found out that if i put my foot down for bout 5 secs and hold it at highish revs that it forces the hot air to come through and my engine cools. could it be the thermostat or heating valve maybe jammed shut?

i found when my thermo went on my merc i got heat through the vents but the engine was over heating, quick and easy to change. ive not been workin on puntos long but it could be worth doin as a precaution. Either that or give your car a back flush and add fresh coolant

Have you bled the air out of the system yet?.
There is no "heating valve" to get stuck, its all done by air flaps,

The heating sounds like the heater matrix has an airlock in it. Easiest way to bleed it is park on a slight incline with the engine facing uphill as it equalises the height of the heater matrix and expansion tank a bit. Oil can take a few minutes to trickle down into the sump from being put in, did the dip stick show no oil at all or did it indicate you were near the min marker?

i have bled the coolant system through and found out lots of air had to be pushed out so i have pushed it all out and topped it up so i think the problem is fixed. its not overheating now and hot air is runnin through the vents as suppose too. if i have nemore probs i will pst it on here.
thanks alot for ur help guys. appretiate it :)
