Hi all,

I have a punto sporting 2001 and my power steering cuts out randomly

I took it to a fiat specialist for diagnostics which showed 1 error message for the steering motor, and an intermittent fault for a short circuit

They cleaned up all the connections for me and said if the problem still occurs i will need the new motor, but i don't want to spend out if there's no need to.

The steering does still cut out but seems to be a lot less frequent now

Is there anything else i could try before paying out?

And if i do need to get a new motor, what do i need to look out for to make sure i get the right part as i will get a second hand / refurbished one. I no my ECU number is 6670 and this has to match, but is it just the motor i would need or the motor and ECU or what?

Thanks in advance for any help (y)

Cheers
Steve

As far as I know, they were checked and were all ok.

It hasn't happened for a while now, only once or twice just after starting up so fingers crossed!

Hello there I have the same problem-do i need and ECU as well as the column and pump or just the ECU?
