eco tek power boost?

Hi guys

I was just wondering if any of you guys have used the eco tek power boost or any other sort of additives or octane boosters? the eco tek power boost is suppose to give your engine more power, crisper acceleration and clean your engine too! my better judgement tells me that you cant buy that in a can, can you?

Re: eco tek power boost?

Products like these can make a difference sometimes. Just remember that if you have a high-mileage engine then some of the crap might be filling gaps that you want to be kept filled!

Re: eco tek power boost?

Hello

Just recently fitted the ecotek (not the boost but the actual device) to my 60sx. Only had it on a week and i have seen a big improvment in fuel eco and also the car picks up quicker
My car has done 70,000 and runs excellent but this little device has made a difference, well worth it!

Re: eco tek power boost?

when max power tested it (lol shame on me for knowing this) they saw a drop in torque and bhp, however the emissions dropped dramatically

Re: eco tek power boost?

Ghost - Are you talking about the Ecotek Valve? If so, I think this is about the Ecotek boost spray (cleans engine via the air intake....)

Incidentally, I've got the ecotek on my MK2 8v and it's great IMO.

Ive used the Nitrox power boost (I think) Its supposed to do all the nice things to the engine but I cant remember noticing any performance changes. The Ecotek power boost spray goes directly into the engine so I would think make a noticable difference- only a presumption though If you've got an older engine its probably worth a go

To apply it do you have to take the airfilter off, or spray it into the airfilter whilst reving

no, remove it unless you have fitted it centrally (i doubt it) I contaced ecotek about fitting it on the FIRE units and they confirmed what i thought.

If you fit it on the brake vacuum line, it will only effect airflow to the no4 cylinder this will result in the mixture to no4 being leaned off. this is not good. for the ecotek to work, you will have to drill and tap the inlet manifold in a central posistion, ie below the throttle body and fit it there.

this is the same for any fiat 1108, or 1242 8v engine (actually, the 75 may have a slightly different inlet manifold, but i dont know)

have a read through here:

https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread...ghlight=ecotek

the cinq sporting uses essentailly the same engine

Re: eco tek power boost?

Ive got the valve fitted to my 8v, seems to work fine with that engine So what will happen if I keep it fitted?

Re: eco tek power boost?

Well I'd be keen to hear it too. I've got it on my 1.2 8v and if there's a problem with it I'd love to hear about it!!

Re: eco tek power boost?

I was actually told by one of the moderators of the Ecotek forum that it would be fine to fit the valve in the brake vacuum hose (Not the fuel line lol) Surely they're not going to give out false information

Re: eco tek power boost?

So if i fit it to the brake vacuum hose (that was blocked the other day with congealed oil) it will/ won't work fine??!?
Its a 1.2 8v in a mk1.
some of you have already fitted them? Does it work fine or does it not?

Re: eco tek power boost?

Well I had the Ecotek on my Rover 416 sli which was fitted to the servo vacuum hose. I did the same thing on the MK2 Punto (after seeing how it would perform on the Fuel hose first like Wolfrace) and it reacts in exactly the same way as it did on the Rover.

If anyone says that this shouldn't be done then I'd be keen to hear it.

he doesnt know the design of the engine, or how the inlet manifold looks inside. I do, and contacted Ecotek directly about it, and they said do not fit it on the brake servo line

I told you when you fitted it, i'm sure. What will happen? It will lean off the mixture for the no4 cylinder only. leaner mixture = hotter. Also, the lambda will read too much o2 in the exhaust and the ECU will increase fueling.

Thats why the ecotek is pointless on modern engines, the ECU just compensates for the extra air the ecotek provides
