it has been a while since I posted on here but I have a question:

Can gearboxes from the FIRE type engine can be swapped around easily (I know the 1.1, 1.2SPI and 1.2MPI can be interchanged)? But does this also apply for the 1.4 or the 1.2 16v?

technically yes, all the boxes between the 1.1, 1.2spi and mpi as well as the 1.2l 8v and 16v FIRE engines are interchangeable. The 1.4 however is not as the engine is of a complete new design.

You should note though that the clutch slave arrangement between the boxes can vary between manual and hydrolic, but can be switched over easily enough, just as any sensors. However the gear ratios among the boxes will most likely vary as well, so you might wanna check up with fiat to ensure youre fitting a box with a ratio that works for the car.
