Been away from the forum for ages! mk2 unoT rusty bucket of DEATH put me off for a while, then sold punto, and now I'm back again.

Sold her about 3months ago in cumbria, R388 RHH.

Wasn't there at the time so didn't catch the guys name, all I know is it *might* now be living in carlisle, though I haven't seen it.

Had two cars since (in the 3months) and whilst their techincally nicer cars, I still miss my punto

Thinking of getting another mk1 punto or mk1 unoT but they are a bit of a love hate relationship and right now I should really be looking for a car thats just plain bland, but works

Good looking car, looks well kept! I live in Swansea so doubtful be ever seeing it, but what did you use on the paint work when you washed? Looks brand new

cheers guys for the comments!

The car that replaced it has so far been a money pit, and I regret every minute of it, on the hunt now for ANOTHER replacement, to replace the replacement

as for paint, everywhere I went people used to comment on it, in the early years I used to just do it by hand, then I borrowed a mates good quality polish machine, only needed to do it once a year, used simple cheap autoglym products, and they did the job fine enough. Although I found its more about using waxs & light polishs that 'fill' swirl and applying them correctly than actually trying to polish them out (which often causes more paint damage)

It picked up a LOT of door dents, chips & scratchs in the last year before I sold her, almost every time I parked it anywhere, it would collect another ding, another scratch, another scuff, to the point where I gave up :(

My next car is looking to be a golf gt tdi estate, but they are as rare as rocking horse poops, so the search is slow :(
If I can't find one, I might settle for an immaculate late mk1 sporting (t or V reg) ;)

Very disappointed with VW's from '93 on MK3 golfs are structurally poor TDi's can be a b******* to even service, electrics a nightmare I've got a '96 Passat TDi also rust, electrics & servicing ........! & the follow on model was worse!
Stick to a late MK 1 Punto marelli electrics may have a bad name but the later 'german' stuff can be a nightmare & the prices!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted a new ABS ECU dealer wanted £600+, got it fixed by BBA-Reman £120 with 2 year guarantee & now the airbag light is on WTF!:bang:
Having said that the TDi engines go forever mine has 259000 mile under its belt & still starts on the button
