There's a really annoying, high pitched squeak that comes from the drivers side wheel on my Mk2. It never happens when first driving the car, and only once you've been driving for 10 mins or so.
At first i thought it would be the hub bearing, but surely i'd hear this constantly?
I only hear it when going over about 30, and it stops when i brake, and seems to occur when i turn left slightly, i.e if the dual carriageway bends to the left.
Could this be the caliper binding on slightly?

Anyone had the same problem?

Cheers

Theres a brake disc guard around the back of the disc, which is basically a piece of sheet metal. If this is too close to the disc, as the disc warms and expands, it touches the guard and cause the squeeling, particully on full lock, so i would definatly check for this. just a flat headed screwdriver between the guard and the disc to prise them apart slightly at both the top and bottom - see if that cures it (y)

Cheers, i'll check for that. Not sure if it'll be the problem though, as i never hear it on full lock-just when turning slightly.

I've had the wheel off today for a quick look, i couldn't see anything that looked as if it was catching on disc. However, the disc is very stiff, and far from being able to move freely. I presume it should not be this tight, as it does not spin freely. Could this be related to the squealing i'm hearing?

As for the guard behind the disc, i'd say there was about a 3mm gap between the two. However, i dont see how it could be prised further away, as its bolted onto the brake assembly.
