car started fine...went out for the day stopped the car came back about anhour later n it wouldnt start:bang:...but on the radio it displayed "cancheck"....tried starting it a few more times then the radio went back to normal display & the car started first time!!! any ideas please....mk2 punto 1.2 16v....cheers :slayer:

Hi, radio is coded to the car, and checks with the body computer over CANBUS network that it is installed in the correct car. Its an anti theft system.

But if for some reason it cannot communicate with the body computer either through a body computer fault, or wiring problem it cant verify its in the correct car.

could indicate bad wiring or failing body computer, especially if you cannot start the car as the body computer makes up part of the immobilizer system as it reads the encoded key via a code ring on the ignition barrel
