i was wondering if anybody had upgraded their tail lights with LED bulbs and if you could post some pictures of them so i could see how they look, quite interest in doing this. cheers

From my experience they're not bright enough.

Im going to spray tint my back lights and indicators this weekend, was looking into LED's. Most companies claim 70% brighter but im not convinced.

I put L.E.D's in my rear lights and they are brighter than the originals. Much better.
Make sure you try to get "high power" or "smd" l.e.d's as they are much brighter than conventional ones.

Would those fit a mk2?

I bought those exact bulbs, although they seem powerful, once fitted in the plastic housing they looked about half the intensity of standard halogens, I can't remember the wattages but if the sidelights are lower then they might be ok for that. You'll probably still have to put a resistor in parallel with the bulb to prevent the warning light illuminating on the dash.

They are r5w's so fit in my taillights. Mine are fine easily bright enough and brighter than standard ones.
