Hey all. needed a car quick time, as i wrote my 306 off into a wall....

so im going to be the owner of a 1.2 punto y reg (which mk is that??) mia

ive already been reading into engie swaps for these, and seeing as ive witnessed the 2.0 ltr redtop/seicento conversion,i know anything is possible.

the question i have is how fun would it be to put the 2.0 ltr 155 from the bravo into the little punto.will it bolt straight in, will it need bravo loom and ecu, etc.....

if not the 1.4 16v tuned to buggery would do i suppose but id love to be looking at over 170bhp per tonne......

so lemme know what you think.

should you really be thinking of a big powerfull lump in such a small car with next to no safety features seen as you just smashed a car into a wall.

but anyway for the bravo you will have to get the ecu and wiring loom for the engine with any engine you drop in but seeing as it is newer engine and iirc a diesel theres lots more to think about.

why not put a coupe 20vt in if you really want to kill yourself

just had a look at the range and the 2.0ltr is 165
or they do a 1.9ltr 150
or the 1.4t-jet 150
and smaller 105, 120 and so on

either way will need serious modification and just not be worth the effort or insurance prices

Lol...

ya put the 20vt in
I know you did it and all..............but you also said it was a nightmare and nothing fits without custom fabricated bodywork. Sounds to me thats its not a good idea at all.

@OP
An engine swap from a 1.2 8v to a 20vt coupe engine? In a mia? with no safety extras? As soon as you tell the insurance company they will more than likely put the phone down on you......especially after writing a car off into a wall

Best off doing what has already been suggested, buy a higher spec car or tune something up, like a mk2b 1.4 sporting......always a good starting point.

this chap has a 1.2 mia?

all the insurance company wants is engine and mod, suspension uprate and brakes uprate, with all that they`ll give you a quote they then give u 31 days to produce a headed letter with all work taken out on the car from a garage, VIC

when he says stuff like that.... attachly just buy a punto you like and learn before doing anything mate

best advice and i`m sure many others would agree

Yup I agree.

Before you start reading up on engine conversions, atleast learn about the car itself, it's model would be a good place to start (y)

If you want to know what fast is - get a bike licence. If you survive you will be one of the better drivers on the road.

Insurance for a Punto HGT isn't cheap but lots cheaper than a heavily modded Mk1 with big engine. Cheaper to buy too.
