hi boys !

i just want to replace the valve seals without taking out the head , i will use air compressor. My engine is 1.2 16v year 2000 punto sporting.
But i dont know that i have to remove the timming belt or not?
thanks a lot

The engine cover actually carries the cams, so yes you have to remove the timing belt.

What

I cant make sence of this question or reply ....

the cams are held in by an engine cover ?????? so you have to remove the timing belt to change valve stem oil seals ,

" i will use my compressor ??? "

ive never done this job on a 00 punto sporting so please explain more

attached is an EPER picture of the 16v engine main components. The "engine cover" or Cam Carrier, in this case, is top middle marked by the red arrow and holds the camshafts within it. The hydraulic lifters are slotted into the cam carrier and then is sat on top of the cylinder head.

there is only one camshaft pulley because the exhaust camshaft is driven off the intake camshaft via a gear at the other end.

As Richie says, the timing belt will have to come off to do valve stem seals.

I also do not understand where the air compressor comes into it though...?
