Hey just wondering if someone who knew what they were talking about could take a look at these springs for me...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lowering-Spri...trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:2134|293:1|294:50

They seem quite cheap, might there be a reason why?

And in the description it says:
Lowering Springs - Fiat Punto 1.2 / 1.2 16v 40mm
Make: Fiat
Model: Punto
Type: 1.2 / 1.2 16v
Year: 09/1999 > On

Does that mean they will fit my Mk2 2001 1.2 8v? (as it does not actually state 8v...)

Anything else i need to think about befor buying these? Im gonna get them on friday, info appreciated.

Spend your money on good quality proven springs.

Eibach do a 50/40 drop which is more like 40/40 on an 8v and they are excellent.

Do it once do it right. Jamex are poor IMO if you want budget springs get spax.

i bought that excat set of springs the other week and they fitted on my car a dream! its a mk2b but is the same chasis as yours, 188 i think, its under your bonnet on a sticker. mine is a 1.2 8v. the springs are great, i cant fault them yet! cost a bit to fit though. unless you know someone to do it for you. garages may charge between £80 and £180.

What setups have you tried before these though?

I can vouch for eibach's quality and I've had about 7-8 suspension setups on mk2's over the years.

Well my gf's dad knows a thing or two about cars so im gonna fit them with him, and im sure ive seen a guide on here somewhere about them. Im not paying £180 to get them professionally done.

Yeah if you say they work a dream, i think ill get them.

Please please please wish me luck with the installation process :p.

So you ignore the advice of experienced members and take the advice from one person who is comparing them with nothing. Very clever.

Fitting is easy. Buy new front suspension bolts as at least one normally needs chopped off.

Im not ignoring your advice, but id rather take it from a member that has experience with these... Not to provoke arguments but id also rather take advice from someone who seems friendly, rather than someone who's every post seems to be blunt and unfriendly.
I sent a post on your home page the other day, and a while ago to, still no reply...

Thanks for the information anyway though, will i definitely need replacement bolts? And do you know how much they will cost?

thanks jake.

What home page? I reply to emails of PM's straight away, anyone will vouch for that.

As for being unfriendly that is the last thing I am. I tell people what they need to hear. I could post saying the springs are excellent but the chances are they aren't, and there are already proven setups tried and tested by several members on puntomk2.co.uk which will no doubt outperform them. I have experience in this area and find it annoying if someone posts up asking for advice, then clearly ignores it since they'd already made their mind up from the start.

Cheap parts are cheap for a reason.

You won't 100% need them but I would replace the nuts and bolts anyway. £20 from Fiat.

Just let him run sh*t springs richie then laugh at him when he comes back moaning. If he thinks your un friendly and isnt listening to you when you are the most knowledable member on here there is no hope for him!

The thing is, he may think they are the dogs ******** because he has nothing to compare with. So they will get recommended again and again. If that does happen then everyone will lower their expectations and be running poor parts simply due to lack of knowledge and the fact the springs are 'cheap'. I'm not saying they're definitely crap just that it's likely other setups will be better.

I'll just leave it at that.

No worries, richie.guy - what about these? http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3875650

Thanks again, jake.

Wow! didnt mean to cause an argument there sorry!:worship:
Yeah he is right i dont have anything to compare to them to, and yes your probably more expericened in these things but hey! there not for a race car, there not for street racing etc, there merely for looks. if your talking performance wise id buy a more expensive set! but for looks there cheap! as with anything price reflects quality! But for the price, they do their job fine. And thats just an opinion!
