I got myself a pair of neons for my footwells and i was looking to hardwire them to the back of the cig lighter as i dont want the cig lighter converter thing to be showing. Thinking that there was no plastic behind covering the wires i went to hardwire them in and POW plastic casing. So i went about tryin to get this off but ive had no luck. Maybe i have been tryin to get it off in a wrong way or is there an easier way to just cut the wires and hardwire it from behind the plastic. If so which wires would i need to cut? as i dont want to be cutting the wrong ones.

i just fitted some blue ones in mine, is this a mk1 punto? if so just use an alan key and remove the sig lighter then connect the wires to the back then put it back on, easy job. can post some pics if u like cos i aint put mine back on yet, but u will have to wait till 2maro cos its dark now

yep MK1. Ye if you could get some pics would be good but also what alan key are u using because ive tried a wide ranged and still cant manage to get these panels open (maybe im not using correct size) Ive heard its a 3mm 1 but ive got an allan key set which maybe doesnt have 3mm.

when u take off the cig, just pull out the connection, no need to cut the wires, then just push in the neon wire to the back of it, strip in a bit long so it wedges in. if ur having the switch up in the dash, there is a nut behind the fan setting thing ( 0 1 2 3) as show in the pic.

I gotmyself the right alan key now so i can open it up. However ive taken out all the screws but the left hand side still doesnt seem to want to budge. There is a small bit of plastic in the top middle which looks as if its connected to the radio part above and while im tryin to remove the whole cig lighter container it looks as if it will snap if i pull it anymore. Shall i just keep pulling it until it comes loose or do i need 2 do something else for it to come off?

did u remove the nut, under the knocb for the fan speeds as shown in the 2nd pic?

aha nope i didnt. Will the fan switch just come out if i pull hard enuff on it or is there a way to get it out? Thanks for all this help mate.

just set it to 0 and pull, comes off very easy, then just push it back one when ur done

Hey sorry but im trying to find how to take the cigarette lighter out do you have to take the center console out?
