Hiya guys

Now, I know there's been a few threads in the past about tyres and Toyo T1-Rs get mentioned rather a lot. I also know that they generally get mixed opinions across the board, particularly a lack of sidewall stiffness and some say that they aren't that progressive either (which is something I would want in a tyre TBH). Is it the same situation for Puntos?

What I would like is some opinions on the following; they're all in a similar price bracket (approx £30-40 a corner, 195-50-15s); I'm not trying to compare budget remoulds with Eagle F1s! lol

  • Uniroyal Rainsport 2
  • Falken ZE912
  • Toyo T1-R
  • Toyo PX4
  • Vredestein Sportrac 3

Anyone got any opinions?

Cheers

I have toyo T1rs in my MK2 sporting and I love em , compared to the Michelin Pilot I used to have.Grip when braking or turning is very much improved , on the wet it's like driving a totally different car(ok , my pilots were old , with 45k kms on em when i bought the car) and I find the tyre design very attractive.I wear the exact size you refer to (195-50-15) , and I never noticed anything like sidewall sensitivity. I can't get what you mean as "progressive".If it's the warm up thing , they are very easy to warm up.When cold , wheels can spin easily but they'll warm up in a couple of minutes.
I've only done 1,5k kms on em though so im'not that reliable as a source..

When I mean progressive, I mean the way the tyre communicates to the driver.

Thanks man I'd never find that out!I don't think that the feeling you get from the road is that much up to the tire..More up to the suspension and the size of the rims and tires.Didn't notice any change in feeling when i swapped the pilots for the toyos!
