The exhasut has been blowing a bit lately, so took into local garage who put it up on the lift. There was no hole as i'd expected, but instead the noise was coming from the 'flexi tube' as the lad called it, at the top end of the central exhaust piece. It was also blowing air out.

Apparently the whole centre piece needs replacing, and only takes around half an hour-20 quid labour. Anyone done a similar DIY job, or is it worth paying the extra 20 quid to get it done?

i havent DIY'ed but got some bloke to do it. like £40 for the part i think. 1 problem was tryin to get it of the back box because they sleeve over and had like rusted to gether

Exactly the same has happened here mate, out of the flexi pipe you can feel the blow, also hear it ;) As for me, Kwik Fit quoted £140 for the whole middle section, but as I'm a mechanic once I've got the part i'll be doin myself. MOT is at the end of this week, gonna have to get it done sharpish :p

I actually thought it sounded better than usual :D
Let us know how you get on, and how hard it is to do!

Centre should be no more than £50
Fitting is easy
You may have to chop the exhaust as they're 1 piece from factory from cat back

I totally agree with you there, but the MOT tester's don't seem to like it :p

Luckily I got one off eBay this morning as soon as it was listed, brand new unused middle section bolt to bolt including flexi.. £33 delivered :)
