I have a 2001 plate punto 1.2 8v. The car has been running fine for a while then all of a sudden on monday the car started shaking REALLY bad (thought doors might fall off) wasn't a vibrating shake though. Popped bonnet and the engine was bouncing away in the engine mounts like a bull and when accelerator is pressed down a loud knocking noise too. Checked the engine mounts and they seem ok, left it sat for a few days and still doing it, while its been sat there a huge puddle of gearbox oil which looks like its coming the bell housing, im no mechanic but im sure it should't even be in bell housing. Sooo! are they connected and could this be cause of the raging bull punto engine?????
Any other ideas or what action to take more than welcome and thanks for taking time to read!

I think fist things first...you should do a search on here and find out how to check for coil/ecu failure as sadly our cars are a bit prone it seems.

Regards the oil leak, are you certain its from the gear box? Either way though it obviously shouldn't be leaking anything.

Try the search for the ignition first please mate and learn how to test it yourself. Once you have that sussed maybe you can pop back on here and let us know as there are plenty of clever types who'll be able to help you :)

Ok cheers, will check it out. yeah the leak is definatly gearbox oil and feels dry on sides apart from underneath, jacking it up tomorrow so will get a lot better view of it all. Thanks
