My wife has just bought a Punto 75SX.
Im slowly putting right the odd problem
Im just about to try to get the heated rear screen working.
The dashboard switch lights up the screen dosent get hot. Is there any common faults that I can look at before I have to start stripping bits down.

This is the first fiat I ve had to look at so any help would be much appricated.

welcome to the forum fuse first then conectors on the window, also the contacts that are half on boot lid half on the edge of boot opening might need cleaning

Thanks for that. I know the fuse works. The switch on the dash board lights with the fuse in!!. Does the rear screen heater work with the hatchback open.

nope iit dont work if you lif the boot open there are a set of contacts that join the elecs up to the heater. one side is on the actual boot and one side is on the car body. therefore if boot is open there is no power. these contacts can get damaged or become dirty like dave suggested give em a clean.

I removed the bottom connector and found part of it burnt away!!
When I checked the cable further along a piece had been badly repaired.
Ive been out and got another connector and part of the wiring loom. Soldered the new one in and everything now works. Thanks

I've got the opposite problem. The heater works perfectly but the bloody light doesn't (it's some fault in the wiring from the relay to the LED which is more of a pain to sort than its worth) so I'm always leaving it on too long
