Hi All,

Just received a letter from my local dealership stating that there is a recall notice for my punto mk2b. Gave them a call and they tell me there are issues with the ecu resulting in electrical problems.

I've checked the VOSA site to see the actual details of the recall but its not on the website.

Has anyone else received a recall letter?

i got one, mines a 2002 punto mk2 a. the letter was from stoneacre peterborough, they said mines done, but how do i know????

going to call fiat i think

This is a questionable scam but probably very carefully worded, it scares you into taking your car in for them to take a look, I wouldnt be surprized if they find one or two other things they will happily do for you as "your car wont be affected by the re-call after all" or the like...

im starting to think this... i phone stoneacre and they said
Stoneacre"oh, yours has already been done"
ME "whats been done then, as it says its free of charge and all work you've done has cost me an arm and a leg"
S"its and ECU Upgrade, to solve faults in the electronic system"
M "that have anything to do with the electronic faults on the £600 steering column or the over priced £120 HT Leads and engine managment fault???"
S" No sir, its just an ECU upgrade"
YEAH RIGHT, LIKE THEY WOULD TELL ME IF IT DID have anything to do with them things

well, there are a few questions i maybe asking FIAT
1. when i called fiat customer service they didn't know anything about it, why?
2. it says urgent Recall notice on the letter, if it is true is the car safe???
3. how do i know its done, they still sent the letter out didn't they??? very strange

Nothing in there that mentions the ECU.

As said above there was a post in the LL about a letter recieved that was a scam to try and increase business for a garage.
