hi all,im new on here.any way its head gaskett thats the problem.its blown again this is the 2nd time in nearly 14 months.is this a common thing with puntos?? coolant was full etc its just blown like a blink of a eye.any help or wot i need too know when i get it done at local garage.will be taking it back too same garage that done it 14 months ago.so what should i no that they are doing the job proper.was told that they may not of skimmed the head?? is that right?/ all help will be grateful.

To do a head gasket properly you need to, make sure the head is skimmed, use new head gasket (obviously), new head bolts, make sure block is flat (using steel rule across it), ensure mating surfaces between the block and head are scrupulously clean, Fresh coolant to correct concentration, and make sure its bled properly.

While the engine is taken apart it is advantageous to change the waterpump, thermostat and cambelt at the same time. It will save you time/money in the long run if they havent been changed for while.

You also need to work out the reason the Head gasket went, Does the thermostat open correctly? is the water pump working? any coolant leaks?, radiator fan working?

If they didnt skim the head last time, it sounda about right thats is gone again after 14 months. If the head is skimmed and everything done the head gasket should last years.

well after too speaking too a mate that is in the car trade,he came too see car tonight.found out that they never even touched the head gaskett.not even un done any think.he said some kind of seal you can get pour it in as coolant and it seals.so the garage are having a round of ****s 1st thing monday morning.god help them.my girlfriend wouldnt know what they was doing,she isnt too blame.just a garage here in telford ripping folk off.
