got an annoying oil leak, going to change the rocker cover gasket, is it simple enough job?

Step-by-step guide HERE, the guide is for a mk1 but its the same for all 1.2 8v's.

When i did mine i had trouble unhooking the wiring duct from the back of the cam cover, it took a big of jiggeling and proding and it eventually come out of the clip then the rest was easy enough.

Make sure you use silicone instant gasket on the corners (as per the guide) it stops the little leaks at the sides.

cheers man,its a mk1 punto iv got :) i dont even know if thats what causing the oil leak, its just a guess, there oil EVERYWHERE below the rocker cover so...
hope its nothign more serious :(

Its a common probs on the 8v's the gasket perishes after a few years and starts to weap oil, then if its left it will gradually get worse.

Clean where the gasket goes well, to remove any oil residue. I used cillit bang when i did mine, but any degreaser will work.

Its a simple enough job(must be I did mine  )
But I would try and get off as much of the old oil on the block as well while your on.

I did mine and still had a leak then went on to cam seals and belt(cam seals where absolutley shot) then on to a cylinderhead gasket.

All because the oil was still leaking (n)

:bang: dont tell me that, im having faith that this will fix it haha
altho iv got 86000 on the clock so im probably gonna be disappointed
