Hi,
When I drive my 97 p reg Punto 55s on motorways,at speeds 60 mph and over, the engine starts to make pinking noises. It happens when the car is warmed up. Any ideas?

My punto 75 used to do this and i switched to OPTIMAX from shell.
This made a real difference.

Could also be a sign of coils starting to breakdown.

could possibly be the ignition coil isn't positioned correctly. a bolt may have come loose and it may have slipped just ever so slightly? normally if this were to happen it would do it when revving all the time, but still a possibility imo.

is that not the case on punto's then? i take it the're plug in ones? my bad. i assumed the coil was a bolt on one after not so long ago changeing my mates on his polo. never had to do mine lol

either way it looks like it could be the coil. get it tested mate
