Hi,

I have found that the standard punto MK2 headlights don't seem to be as good as other cars and am thinking of changing them for better ones.

I have had a look on powerbulbs. The fitment seems to be an H7 fitment. I am thinking of buying the osram silver star bulbs to hopefully improve the headlight coverage. Has anyone ever changed over the standard punto MK2 headlights for premium bulbs?

Also is it an easy job to change the bulbs over? I have had a look and its just that I think that the passenger side headlight might pose a problem, I think its the fusebox that might get in the way of removing the cover.

Is it just the one set of bulbs that control all the lights etc?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter. :)

hi there

i have got osram silverstar bulbs in mine and i noticed a difference especially on dipped beam they were alot better.

you need a seperate bulb for dipped and full beam so 2 pairs of bulbs will be nedded if you want to change them all.

now changing the bulbs thats the tricky bit as most people have found on here especially the passenger side ones. onteh drivers side teh back cover just unclips and you should be able to pull it off to get to the bulbs inside there isnt much room but enough to do the job watch your knuckles :D now passenger side is the problem like you said the fusebox gets in the way. when i done mine i managed to get the cover off but then there was no room in the end i loosend the bolts on the fuse box and maneged to push it back an inch, and i also undone the head light unit bolts and moved that forwards slightly that gave me just enough room to change the bulbs using pliers lol and several plasters for my knuckles later.

you cant just take the whole light out as you need to take the bumper off to do that :(

one other thing make sure you actually check the bulbs in your car for the fittment. despite what bulb selector guides say online some mark 2 puntos are h7 some are h1 or h4 it just seems potluck what was fitted to yoru car by the factory.

Thanks for the tips mate. Much appreciated. I think I'll take the cover off first to double check the headlight fitment before ordering new ones. :)

Thanks again mate! :D

My headlight unit came out fine!!! (MK2 53 active sport) And was definitely the easiest option.

And yes, check the bulbs. My girlfriend has an X Reg MK2, hers has H7 bulbs, mine has H1.
