Radiator Fan Question!

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if traveling at high speeds or strong gusts of wind can cause the radiator fan to spin super quick. I believe the bearing are on their way as it makes a few nasty noises...

Cheers

Re: Radiator Fan Question!

Not really since the fan is behind the bumper and the radiator which restrict airflow substantially.

Re: Radiator Fan Question!

Thanks...Heres one more then,

Would the fans motor ever operate whilst the car is moving? The sound is coming from that area plus when im parked and the fan kicks in, it squeels like a piglet being stamped on

Thanks again

Re: Radiator Fan Question!

Have you checked it's not loose at all?

Is the manifold heat shield OK?

The fan may spin but it's unlikely and won't be at any speed unless it's operational.
Thanks Roth thanked for this post

Re: Radiator Fan Question!

I aint no mechanic but it all seems OK. Ill just have to wait and see. Im getting a new fan and motor anyway because the bearings are clearly knackered and hopefully *crossed fingers* the noise will dissappear...if not then back to the drawing board

How would the heat shield generate a noise?

Thanks

Re: Radiator Fan Question!

No it's not really necessary, but better to have it than not if possible.
