Hi,

I have a mk2 1.2 8v 2002 punto. I have noticed recently a bit of difficulty changing from 1st to 2nd gear, the others seem fine. When i change up it feels a bit crunchy in the gearstick although i can't hear it crunching it also sometimes require a bit more effort to change gear. I have noticed that if i depress the clutch so my foot is really flat on the floor and hold it there for a moment or two longer than usual then this doesn't happen. Is this normal/the clutch/gearbox?

Also with the engining off and door open you can hear a creaky/clicky sound when depressing the clutch, is this normal? If not what is it?

I don't seem to have lost any brake fluid btw.

Any advice appreciated, cheers

Sounds like worn synchro to me i.e. gearbox.

The creak is the release bearing normally.

:yeahthat:,i used some wynners gearbox stop leak from halfrauds(about a fiver),it reduses the crunch but its not a perminant fix thow

That gearbox treatment is good.

If the oil hasn't been changed it's worth changing.

Will this stuff enable me to use third gear again?
My syncro has completely gone and i don't have the money just yet for a new'un

No, it's not a miracle in bottle. It just helps to reduce wear.

If you drive badly your box will still die.
If your box is already broken it won't fix it.
It's preventative maintenance.
