Hi
I put a post on a few weeks ago. My drivers side airbag light has been on for a few weeks now. I took my car to an auto electrics who hooked it up to the diagnostic machine, the machine could not read my car (control module I have been told) they have checked all the connections and cannot find anything wrong and have advised me to take the car to fiat as they cant find the fault. My worry here is that it is now more than just the airbag if the diagnostic machine cant read my car. Anyone else had this problem ?? When lookiing through the forum and from the replys I had the last time it seems an easy enough problem to fix and not to expensive although I have asked at a fiat specialist (not dealer) they cant tell me how much and only said they could try (to be honest dont want to waste the money to be told go to fiat again) but said it was an expensive job. Whats expensive £100, £200, £400 ?? anyone know ? Someone else has also told me the same happend to there car and the drivers seat had to be ripped out and it cost £375. Thinking of getting a new car soon so dont want to spend to much fixing it, but then again it will be harder to sell if there is a problem.

Hope someone can help

Thnaks

It might be the diagnostic machine they are using isnt capable of talking to the airbag module in your car. Although if they are an auto electrics outfit you would think they would have the correct kit to do so.

What car is it you have? It would be best taken to either a Fiat dealer or an independent Fiat specialist who can connect the car to the Fiat diagnostic tool - Examiner.

The price for repair would differ from car to car (different amount of airbag systems - complexity of the system etc).

HI,
It's a punto active 52 plate, the fiat specialist I asked just said it was a common fault with puntos and could give it a try which didn't sound to promising, so I could take it there and pay them only to be told to go to a fiat dealer and pay again.

Stop being tight and get it sorted, its there for your safety (so money should not be a issue) and currently the system has shut down. It will probably (at worse) need a loom modification (dealer repair only at £60-£70) a rather small price to pay even at a dealership.

Let us know roughly where you are so can recommend FIat garage near you.

£60 - £70 I dont mind paying, I have been getting told crazy prices like £375 !!! That I cant afford even if it is a safety issue ( I'm not loaded ) lol, dont want to keep paying garages to plug it up to there machines and not be able to tell me whats wrong or to be told they can give it a try, booked into fiat on monday, been told £70 straight away to plug it up to machine, so hopefully your right and its not too much more !!!

Hey thanks everyone who replyd to me,

turned out it was to do with moving the seat and had to get a connection fixed. cost £70.15 (the price to get it plugged up to the diagnostic machine) didn't get charged for anything else ! turned out no that bad !
