I am wondering if anyone here can help me with this:
I just bought 2001 Fiat Punto 1.4 16v sport. On my dash bord there is a red icon of airbag. I checked the manual and it says when red is permanently on its a fault in airbag system. Has anyone come across with this problem. any suggestions before I take it to garage?

Just for your info there isnt a 1.4 sporting that was made in 2001, it will be the 1.2 16v, unless someone has modded it and put a 1.4 into it.

It needs the codes read at a fiat dealer. It could be many things. There is a wiring upgrade that fixed airbag issues, i dunno fi you car falls under the ones that needed it or not though. (fiat will tell you if it does when you get codes read). Another possibility is the wires going to the passenger air bag get knocked and pull when the glove box is overfull and crammed with stuff. Its not really a thing you can do yourself though. It will need the codes reset by fiat in any case.
