got another mk2 punto the other day off here,and guess what the engine sounds goosed!i was told that diesel was put in and he couldnt get it running after,so i emptied the fuel (which didnt look or smell like diesel)and put fresh in rolled it down the hill and it started,a bit sputtery then revving itself up every 3 seconds,then a tappy/knocky noise,then finally smoke coming from the breather pipes,and oil light on,do you think the h/g and rings?and is there any other engine/bottom end that fits in these models,its the one with the cam sensor on top?its a 1.2 8v basic model

sorry its the 1.2 8v basic model,but i have another mk2 same engine but a 2000 model the only difference i can see is the 2002 one has a sensor on top of the cam cover?

is it a mk2 uno?

my fault this forum is in that many sections i thought i was in the punto catagorysorted now.its a 2002 fiat PUNTO mk2,1200cc, 8v model.

thats better, when we know the car we can get it in the right section

apparently the bottom ends are the same from the mk1 75/85 models,is this true,and the sump is same all the way up to 2006?

anyone any idea's?i thought someone might know???

i don't reckon as 16v an 8v have a different sump, an different crank sprocket,

an the turbo boys are always asking for 16v pistons they dont ask for 75 ones so they must be not the same either
