can anyone help i have a 1997 punto GT have just had new alternator fited last week as old one was not charging the batt and have just paid out for a new batt but still the batt is being drained .
used a volt meter and the batt is putting out 12.90 volts and when car is running it drops down to 11. 89 and just keeps getting lower.
has anyone had this problem ??
thanks dean

do you have an aftermarket stereo ?? there is no ignition live there so your stereo could be draining some power when its off! also if its running it should be up and about 14v so perhaps dodgey alternator was put on .. or bad connection though it wouldnt give any power other than whats on the battery if this were the case

As above, get the alternator/wiring checked out, Sounds like it isnt charging the battery at all.

Is the battery light on the dash before you start the car (with the key as position 1?), and does it go out once the cars started?

dont no what is going on. wires need looking at?
just put volt meter back on it and now its puttin out about 14 volts ??
gonna give it a week and see what happens and keep some jump leads on me lol thanks anyway
