hi am new to this site but desperately need advice.just bought a 2001 punto 1.2 16v auto.my wife drove it the 95 miles home with no apparent problems. when we got home she said the injection system failure light had been on the whole way home.i booked it in for a diagnosis(40 quid) and the garage who tested it said it needed new plugs, leads, coil and oxygen sensor.2 days later my wife said it began to misfire on her way home from work.i drove it home fine but it appeared to be over-revving.i brought it to my tried and trusted mechanic who said that there were no such problems with the plugs etc but said the auto gearbox was not changing gear even though it was working fine in triptonic mode....i then rang the local automatic specialists who said i would have to run it on their transmission diagnosis for another 80 quid.they said that as it was working fine in triptonic that it couldn't be the gearbox but more likely to be the ecu...has anybody got any advice.....please!!!!

sounds more electrical than mechanical, but gearbox warning light normally comes on. best to get it on a dealer diag machine as it will give the right codes for the problem

thank u both very much for your advice.soz not been on 4 a while been working my butt off 2 pay 4 the car.i took it 2 a fiat dealer who ran it on their diag.it did need a new oxygen censor and a new battery.picked it up last week and touch wood it appears 2 be running okay.
