Hi everyone,

My girlfriend has a Punto 60 Mk1 99 T which blew the head gasket which i just replaced and she is running great.
Before this went and for sometime there has been a ticking coming from the engine which sounds like the valves and there is a light on on the dash in the bottom right corner which is a picture of an oil can and its red.

Now i hear ya saying 'its the oil light' but I've checked the oil levels and there is plenty in, just below the max. Is it possible that it is another sensor for oil getting to the cam that this light indicates and this is what the ticking noise is? If so what can i do to sort it apart from using engine flush cos she is 100,000 miles plus...?

Many thanks

The oil can warning symbol is for low oil pressure, not oil level.

You need to check the oil pressure warning switch and wiring. If that's OK you need to check the oil pressure with a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Dave.
