I was thinking of buying a new/used set of headlights for my mk2b punto and spraying them black on the inside. If anyone has done this or knows anyone who has. Is there any tips on how to? Is it easily done or should i stay away from the idea? Your help will be much appreciated!(y)

iv neva done this or know any1 that has. but id recomend very light coats and wait 20mins before a new one.do them to your taste.but remember to dark and light wont shine threw as strong.and also id do it on the outside of the lights.i would think th inside will get very warm with the bulbs aspecialy when the fogs are on.so mite leave patches.the outside will be fine.but just remember not to dark for when it comes m.o.t time.iv been thinking of doin mine slightly blue (mk2 elx, orange)so not sure lol as it may not suit.think we mite just be better off getting eyelids.iv seen them £20 on ebay and sum £12. just need spraying and fitting.hope iv helped a little.

Thanks for the reply. This is what i meant by the inside. it can be done but i dont know how much effort it will be to do! if i was you i would go for this way, the lights come apart into pieces you see! Black usually goes good with orange cars! but blue could be different:slayer: And the eyelids for mine are coming just need to spray them! should be fun:yum:

Lenses need cut off with a dremel or similar.

Prep and paint the inner plastics as normal.

Re-seal with silicone.

Cheers! So pretty standard procedure then. Any tips for best paint to use! and im guessing using a spare set of lights will be more practical? are they gonna be road legal or not? or is a swap goin to be needed come mot time?(y)

To get them like the above picture you paint the plastic surrounds.

They should be legal.

Spare set is sensible.

reflecters have to be visible most importantly....and tinting fronts it def. illegal....although for painting the surrons is not as richie guy has said...
