Help,

Ive got an oil leak!, When i stop the car im getting 1 or 2 drops off the bottom of the sump, had a closer look and it looks to be running down the timing belt side of the sump, as far as i can see its coming from above the sump seal, so crankshaft seal?

Replaced rocker cover gasket a few weeks ago as as far as i can see thats all fine and not leaking

There isnt any oil on the timing belt, but there is a covering of oil all over the suspension parts directly behind the alternator (i assume its blowing backwards when driving)

The oil level isnt dropping very much at all, i can hardly notice any difference between checks, just maybe 1mm below max (was on max about 200/300 miles ago).

Im thinking of swapping the car in 4/5 months, Is it a urgent repair? or will it hold out until i part ex it?

How much am i looking at for the seal changed?

Thanks

Hi people! Bringing up an older thread. I would need some help or suggestions over here. So about a year ago i discovered some oil leak on my girlfriend's Punto 2B. Basic 1.2 8V engine. It was coming from the front crankshaft oil seal. So i decided to change it. When i took off the timing belt, i saw it is indeed the crankshaft seal. It was leaking. So i ordered anoter one off ebay for 5 Euros, regular seal ring 27X37X7 mm. Pretty easy job, took 2 hours to get it done. Everything was fine, after the change i checked it weekly for maybe a month, and it was completely dry. But today when i changed the oil, i noticed some signs of a minor leak on the oil sump coming from the crankshaft and i discovered that it probably comes from that seal AGAIN. So i don't know what should i think now. Was the replacement seal so low quality that it held only 1 year? How is that possible that the new seal is leaking again? The seal was from PHLE (a known chinese company specialised for o-rings and seals) it looked OK, i didn't notice anything strane on it. Should i order another seal from another company (Corteco, Febi, etc.) and change it again or the problem is caused by anything else? It is really strange that the new seal just held less than a year. Any ideas?
