I'd be surprised if it cost you any more than fifty quid and a day's slow graft to sort it. The last one I did only needed the gasket at about £12, and took me three hours. If it hasn't been cooked, then it may not need skimming, and I've only ever had to replace head bolts on a diesel due to the amount of stress when tightening.
